Vacation Wines - Number Six - 2014 Puligny-Montrachet, Etienne Sauzet

When you are on the west coast in Sweden, you just have to eat shrimps fresh out of the ocean. Some bread, lime aioli and assorted cheeses, you´re good to go. What to drink then?

2014 Puligny-Montrachet, Etienne Sauzet
2014 is really a great vintage for white Burgundy, judging from the bottles I have tasted so far. The nose of this one jumps out of the gates with lovely notes of yellow plums, ripe lemons, matchbox and some coconut flakes. Very, very good. Dry caramel after a while. Very ripe fruit. Shows lots of potential. Lots of focus.
The taste is young and intense with notes of grilled lemons, mango, cap gun smoke and a hint of some expensive soap. Very long and structured. A fresh acidity. This will be going places, give it 4-6 years. The best village PM from Sauzet I have tasted. Here are notes of the 2005 and 2008.
