Drinking Tonight - 2009 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir "La Bauge Au-dessus", Au Bon Climat

To go with some left over pulled pork tonight, I opened this Pinot. A great move on my part! :-)

2009 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir "La Bauge Au-dessus", Au Bon Climat
It opens a bit shy but with only 20 minutes in the glass its strutting its stuff. The nose is big, deep and focused with notes of meaty, ripe strawberries, warm herbs, sweet liquorice, bonfire, red beet juice and a touch of band aid for added complexity. A scent of chocolate wafers after a while. This I like. Hedonistic and complex.
The taste is ripe and structured with lots of sweet red currants, dried raspberries, assorted herbs, raspberry vinegar, forest floor and a very fine acidity. There is some mature notes here but I think its just reaching its plateau. Great stuff. Drinking great on this night and on several nights in the future. The bottle just vanish!
