Vacation Wine Diary - Day 28 - Burgers & Petite Sirah

Dear Diary

Even though it is hot, you got to eat. This evening I made burgers with a lot of fixings. To go along I opened a bottle of Foppiano Petit Sirah. Someone, which taste I trust, said it was a bargain (16 Euro), and after finishing the bottle, I agree.

2010 Petite Sirah, Foppiano Vineyards
The nose is young but quite forward with notes of sweet blueberries, blackberries, asphalt, seared meat, bay leaves and some bonfire scents. Upfront and easy but it also displays some restraint and more dimensions than one. But if you into anaemic, lambic smelling wines, this will not suit you.
The taste is young and potent with a decent amount of acidity and notes of spicy blueberries, liquorice, asphalt and a touch of gingerbread cookies. The tannins are a bit on the light side. It went very well with the burgers though. Still rather young. Very good.
